To celebrate the centenary of the legendary musician Miles Davis's birth, Breitling launched a limited-edition collection at Geneva Watchmaking Days. It's called a collection because it's more than just a single watch. At the heart of the collection is the limited-edition stainless steel Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 Miles Davis, limited to 500 pieces, inspired by the Navitimer 806 Mk 5 worn by the renowned jazz musician. If one stainless steel model isn't enough, Breitling also offers 50 three-piece sets, each containing a different watch in stainless steel, yellow gold, and platinum with a blue dial.

We can start with the core model, either AB09501A1B1X1 or AB09501A1B1A1, depending on whether you prefer a leather or steel bracelet (we recommend the steel). This Navitimer Miles Davis watch measures 41mm (the same model as the one worn by Davis), is 13mm thick, and has a 47.1mm lug spacing. It houses the COSC-certified Breitling B09 manual-winding movement, oscillating at 4 Hz, and features a column wheel and vertical clutch. Putting aside the allure of the club membership, as for the product itself, I don't think I need three. Perhaps I'm just not a die-hard fan of Miles Davis. That being said, although I don't think I've ever seriously listened to any of Davis's music, I still think the standard steel watch looks fantastic, and even better with the bracelet.

In recent years, Breitling has released a series of retro-style Navitimer watches (such as the Ref 806 1959 Tribute) with great success, as the designs are beloved and timeless.
